Spain, Morocco, and the Canary Islands

After 10 days in northern Spain we joined a Windstar cruise with near-daily ports of call along the Spainish coast, stops in Tangier and Gibraltar, and finally the Canary Islands.

1. Seattle to Madrid - october 22

   Air France, through Paris

2. Madrid - october 23

   Dinner at La Posada de la Villa and drinks at Angelita Gastrobar.

3. Madrid - october 24

   Private tour of the Royal Palace this morning, followed by a visit to the impressive Royal Collections Gallery. Flamenco show later in the day, followed by dinner at Asador de Aranda.

4. Madrid - october 25

   Pre-opening Prado tour and visit, churros and ice cream at Chocolat Madrid and Ragazzi Gelato, and visit to the Reina Sofia museuem. Dinner at GatoGato and drinks at La Santoria Speakeasy.

5. Madrid - october 26

   Lunch at Jamones Julian Becerro and dinner and drinks at Salmon Guru.

6. León - october 27

   Morning train to León where we toured the cathedral, cathedral musuem, and Roman musuem. Tapas crawl for dinner.

7. León, Astorga and O Cebreiro - october 28

   Grabbed a rental car, toured the Basílica de San Isidoro, drove to Astorga for a visit to the Gaudi-designed Bishop's Palace and a picnic lunch. Stopped by charming little O Cebreiro on our way to Lugo.

8. Lugo and Santiago de Compostela - october 29

   Walked the Lugo walls and visited the cathedral before driving to Santiago de Compostela, where we enjoyed the plaza and grabbed dinner at a seafood restaurant where we could eat barnacles.

9. Santiago de Compostela - october 30

   Small group tour of the Portico of Glory, followed by a visit to the cathedral and musuem before catching a late flight to Barcelona.
